Welcome to Saltaire Canteen

Our purpose is simple.

Saltaire CanteenĀ aims to reduce food waste and poverty through social action and education based on the principle of zero food wastage.

This is the idea that it is better to intercept and use surplus food before it is disposed of by food retailers, such as supermarkets, producers and shops, than it is to allow that food to end up in the bin.

Every year, millions of tonnes of food are needlessly thrown away. We will use this perfectly good food to make nutritious and healthy meals for whoever needs them.

Our food is offered on a ‘pay as you feel basis’. All we ask is that you pay what you think your meal is worth, or whatever you can afford.

We’re open on Monday to Friday between 9:30am and 3:30pm, and on Saturday between 10:30am and 4:30pm.
